Hello,
The Browser and Web Platform Devroom at FOSDEM 2027 invites proposals for talks about the engines, standards, and technologies that power the web.
We welcome browser developers, standards contributors, researchers, and independent implementers from projects including Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Edge, Ladybird, Servo, and others. This is an opportunity to share technical challenges, compare approaches, and collaborate on an open, interoperable, and privacy-respecting web.
Topics include:
* Browser engine architecture, rendering pipelines, JavaScript runtimes, and alternative architectures.
* Web standards development and implementation experiences.
* Interoperability, conformance testing, and compatibility.
* Performance, memory use, energy efficiency, and profiling tools.
* Security and privacy, including sandboxing, tracking protection, and vulnerability mitigation.
* Accessibility, usability, and developer tools.
* On-device inference, browser APIs for machine learning, and the security and privacy implications of integrating AI.
* Using AI to develop, test, debug, and maintain browsers and web engines, including finding security vulnerabilities.
* Build systems, testing infrastructure, release engineering, and software supply-chain security.
* Building new browsers and experimenting with independent engines.
* ...
We welcome implementation reports, experiments, work in progress, and lessons from approaches that did not work out. Talks that share lessons useful to other projects or identify opportunities for collaboration are particularly encourage
