We are thrilled to announce that the Call for Proposals (CfP) for the Identity and Access Management (IAM) Devroom at FOSDEM 2026 is now open!
Don't wait until the last minute!
This is the Identity and Access Management Devroom, and we want to hear how you're solving the tough challenges in FOSS identity. We welcome any relevant submission! For inspiration, check out the schedules from 2018, 2024, and 2025.
Our suggested topics for 2026 include:
The future of authentication:
The path to ubiquitous Passwordless: Passkeys, FIDO2, OAuth2, and PIV in practice.
Beyond Centralization: Decentralized Identity (DIDs) and Verifiable Credentials (VCs).
Integrating federated and social identities at the OS level.
Core infrastructure & security:
Preparing for Y2Q: Implementing quantum-resistant cryptography (QRC).
DNS and Identity: Securing domains for identity services.
Identity in the Software Supply Chain (e.g., Sigstore).
User experience & integration:
Integrating modern auth in desktop environments (GNOME, KDE) and admin tools.
Improving the UX for multi-factor authentication.
Project showcases & case studies:
FOSS IAM offerings, migration stories, and integration with proprietary solutions.
Real-world IAM/IdM deployment reports and war stories.
