We are pleased to announce the list of developer rooms that will be organised at FOSDEM 2014. Developer rooms are assigned to self-organising groups to work together on open source projects, to discuss topics relevant to a broader subset of the community, etc. The individual developer room organisers will issue their calls for participation in the next few days. Not found. What a pitty there is nothing about UC, unified communication. Where to find information how to do it next time better? (Hopefully it documents how to add late requests for a dev room) Groeten Geert Stappers -- Leven en laten leven

Hi Geert, Every year, we receive many great proposals for developer rooms, and we only have a limited number of rooms available. Unfortunately, that means there are always proposals that we have to reject, not because they were bad, but because there were more 'better' proposals than available rooms. And that is exactly what you have to do to get a developer room, have a proposal that is interesting enough to be one of the best N proposals received (where N is the number of available rooms). It's hard to say what you have to do to achieve that, as that depends on all the other proposals made. As for late requests, I'm sorry, but that is not an option. The deadline has passed, and all the rooms have been assigned. So, better luck next time... Kind regards, Wynke.

Correct. We did not just copy the schedule from this year.

What makes you think you did it wrong? :) We receive quite a lot more proposals than we have rooms to allocate. If we picked the same ones every year, just because they worked the previous year, FOSDEM would be boring and predictable.

You'd have to install a portal to a parallel universe where buildings are bigger on the inside than on the outside. You'll probably need to get permission from ULB to do that. Philip -- Philip Paeps Senior Reality Engineer Ministry of Information

We (the XMPP Standards Foundation) have done devrooms for many years. Like a previous edition we didn't get one this time. Tough luck, but we'll try again next year. We are happy to see that there is a devroom on the Internet of Things and have also applied for doing another Realtime Lounge. Thanks Philip, Wynke and all the other FOSDEM *volunteers* for doing this amazing event each and every year! -- ralphm

I would urge folks who didn't get a dev room to consider self-organizing something less formal on Friday before FOSDEM begins. Many people are already in Brussels and could be interested in a daytime session organized in a meeting room at a downtown hotel or a topic-specific dinner before the big welcome event.
