That's the way which has been chosen by the conference organizers.

As a good citizen we are not going to play against the rules set by

I'd love to have this as a live session in Brussels believe me!
But as this is not possible we need to keep our devroom format 
consistent with the rest of FOSDEM.

In contrast I may say that all recent LF conferences were organized in 
the same way that has been chosen by FOSDEM orgs and they were pretty 
successful.
