fyi, for anyone still considering that, that's what I did, and it
worked great. Very friendly gentleman right there, took all of 60
seconds for the whole transaction.<br>

Note that the manual is only in French and Dutch, so it took me a
bit (and my rusty French skills) to realize the opening 'unlock SIM'
screen you get is from Base, and requires a 1111 (and was not a
failure on my part to unlock my phone).<br>

Fifteen Euros, then I converted ten to data by texting SAFE10 to
1913 (the friendly gentleman explains that), and it kept us from
looping Gare Centraal more than three times before we went the right
way towards the hotel :-/.<br>
