I think having more people and exposure increases the chance
someone will contribute to the project.
With Java currently in limbo, I think we need all the help we can get ;)

With that said, having a lot of things which cannot be said in public just  
does not feel Open Source.
Anyway, they can alway do it over dinner if they really don't want to tell  
the public about it :)
