Hello! After a very successful participation the last 3 years, we're excited to announce that GCC (GNU Toolchain) will again have a developer room at the upcoming FOSDEM 2027, in Brussels, Belgium: <https://fosdem.org/2027/> This email is a Call for Presentations about GCC (GNU Toolchain). Important Dates: - 28th November 2026 Submission Deadline - 7th December 2026 Final Schedule announcement - 30th January 2026 (Sat afternoon) GCC (GNU Toolchain) devroom ### CFP Introduction This devroom is geared towards both users and developers of GCC, and of closely related toolchain components (binutils, glibc, newlib, gdb, for example) and cross-project collaborations. The goal of the devroom is for toolchain developers to get in touch with each other, and with users, to have (we hope) productive discussions about it, to help people get involved in development, and to have fun. The format of the expected presentations will cover a range that includes: - technical presentations - tutorials - lightning talks - demos Typically presentation slots are 25 minutes, with 15 minutes recommended for presentations, and 10 minutes for Q&A. Lightning talks are 5 minutes each. If you would like a different length for presentation and/or Q&A, please mention this in the submission notes. ### Important informations - FOSDEM is free to attend. There is no registration. - FOSDEM website: <https://fosdem.org/> - FOSDEM code of conduct: <https://fosdem.org/2027/practical/conduct/> - FOSDEM Schedule (online soon): <https://fosdem.org/2027/schedule/> - In order to enable, for example, students to attend FOSDEM for presenting at the devroom, there may be limited availability of sponsoring for travel expenses. This is backed by the GNU Toolchain fund, a part of the FSF's Working Together for Free Software Fund: <https://www.fsf.org/working-together/fund>. If you would like to apply, please contact the devroom organizers (see below) as soon as possible, until November 15th 2026. ### Desirable topics - Technical presentations, such as discussion of GCC internals - Talks for users of any GNU Toolchain component (GCC, GDB, glibc, etc), such as presentation of new features - Tutorials (e.g. on GCC usage, or on getting involved in development) - Lightning talks - Demos ### Topic overlap There are over 77 developer rooms this year, and multiple main tracks, so there may be overlap with some other events. If the topic would fit more than one devroom, you are free to choose which to submit to, but we encourage you to consider the focus of the talk, and see which devroom is best matched. Full list of devrooms: <https://fosdem.org/2027/news/accepted-developer-rooms/> ### How to submit your proposal To submit a talk, please visit the FOSDEM 2027 Pretalx website: <https://fosdem.org/submit> Click 'Submit a proposal'.
