Re: [FOSDEM] Embedded devroom final notification
Does that mean that if the pentabarf says that my talk is accepted (but progress is still "unconfirmed" ) , it's actually confirmed but not scheduled ? what are the chances for the schedule to change - if it can be estimated ? thanks, -- makapuf
Hi, If Pentabarf says your talk is accepted, that means that the track chairs set its status to accepted. If your status is unconfirmed, that means that the talk status was not updated (it should be auto-updated when you reconfirm your attendance in your profile, but Philip mentioned there's a known bug preventing that updating from happening). That status needs to be manually updated by track chairs, and I simply did it for all the talks I accepted. Incidentally, setting talk status to accepted does not notify the speakers their talk was accepted - I had to extract email addresses and manually notify people (a bit of a pain). I imagine that some track chairs may not be aware that they need to do this. Cheers, Dave. On 01/08/2015 09:46 AM, mak apuf wrote:

It will only show up on the schedule when it's accepted/confirmed. You (devroom coordinator) need to set "confirmed".

This affects the change from "confirmed" to "reconfirmed". If an event is not even "confirmed" it has no chance of ever ending up on the schedule.

I'm sure this limitation was pointed out on the devroom-managers@ mailing list once or twice. :) I do have an Evil Perl Hack that can extract lists of email for devroom organisers if they want it. There are very good reasons not to allow web-facing things to send email! Philip -- Philip Paeps Senior Reality Engineer Ministry of Information

It was - but if others are like me, they may not be paying attention to all email from the list ;-)

Yes, it wasn't a criticism, just information. A way to extract name, email address and talk title as a CSV would be great, as that would allow easy export + mail merge. Thank you for the information on accepted/confirmed too - I was not clear that I had to do that, I thought speakers needed to do it. All cleared up now. That's what the Evil Perl Hack does. :) Somewhen, there may be a button on the web interface that does the same ... but it hasn't yet made it to the top of my todo list.
