Just some thoughts on things to include in the call for papers and discussion with speakers:
- related dev rooms: in the RTC devroom, many people already know what the speaker is going to present. Some speakers may be able to raise the profile of their project a lot more by going into another devroom, e.g. somebody doing WebRTC stuff may want to apply to the Mozilla devroom too. We should encourage all speakers to apply for a lightning talk and consider main track (deadline 31 October) as well.
- time slots: lets not ask people to choose if they want a 30 minute or 60 minute slot, lets just tell them that they should anticipate 20-25 minute slots and if we have any spare space in the schedule we may offer it to somebody
- blogs - why not ask them to write a blog about the topic they want to talk about or give us a link to a blog they already wrote and ask them if they would like to be included on the planet sites?
Personally, I feel it would be really good if we can give a slot to everybody who is making an active contribution in this field and this may mean lots of short talks, between 20-30 minutes, but I would be interested to hear how other people feel about this.
I think 20-25 mins each talk with 5-10 in between talks is perfect. Short enough to spike interest but not get boring. Depending on the proposals, we could have a couple of long talks as “highlights” of some sort. Regards, -- Saúl Ibarra Corretgé AG Projects
