on a personal note :) is there any oportunity to register for this work-shop or is it first come first served ?
You are right. Last year, we donated 100 smartcards at FOSDEM. People rushed in the room and some left immediately. As a result 50% of the audience had no smartcard. To avoid this situation, there are 3 different situations: 1) You may register online for a free ePass2003: http://www.gooze.eu/feitian-epass-2003-free-software-developer-kit Indicate "FOSDEM 2012" during checkout. Give your real name and address as a normal checkout. You only need to pick-up your token at FOSDEM, on first day (Saturday) or second day (Sunday) in the dev romm. I will be sitting in front of the room with OpenSC hackers. 50 ePass2003 will be reserved this way. First in, first served. 2) You may receive a free ePass2003 during the smartcard workshop. 50 additional ePass2003 will be available for the smartcard workshop audience. You will have to register writing your name on a paper. We wan to avoid people picking-up the ePass2003 and leaving immediately. So that the audience can hack around the ePass2003 during the workshop. 3) Free software kits If you are taking part in a free software project and would like to implement security features around hardware tokens, GOOZE ***always*** donates the epass2003. Just register on this page and we will ship to your address: http://www.gooze.eu/feitian-epass-2003-free-software-developer-kit Make a full description of your token. We always verify information, even looking at source code before shipping a free token. This usually takes 24/48 hours before your order is validated or rejected. The reason why we donate the ePass2003 to free software communities is that until recently tokens were very expensive and exotic hardware. Donating a token is a first step before people discover this ***proven*** technology. Hope this helps. Kind regards, -- Jean-Michel Pouré - Gooze - http://www.gooze.eu
For those who are interested in smart cards I will present an "alternative vision" at FOSDEM although I'm still waiting for the actual scheduling. Kai? Martin? Item G on: https://www.opensc-project.org/opensc/wiki/FOSDEM2012 Cheers, Anders

Dear Anders, I'm sorry that your talk proposal got missed. My only involvement was the last minute correction, after I had noted the conflict. I understand Martin got sick and he tried to get the schedule done anyway. I think he is still recovering. What about one of the not-yet scheduled slots? I'd say, Saturday is already pretty much packed, and I think it might be interesting to have an open discussion on Saturday after the CACert/DigiNotar talk. On Sunday, there might be several options. I see that other developer rooms start as early as 9:00 on Sunday, so you could talk at 9:00 am. Or you could talk at 12:00, although Martin might have intentionally left that gap for lunch. Or you could talk Sunday, 15:00, after the Smart-Card workshop? I have not coordinated this with Martin, as I cannot reach him on IRC, I'm just trying to provide some suggestions. What do you or other's think? Regards Kai

To clarify: An open discussing about trust models and DigiNotar
Hi Kai, As I have a full presentation that was tentatively admitted on the IRC to Tomas G by Martin I would prefer that the six presentations on Saturday where shortened by 5 mins each. That gives me 30 mins and the other 40-55 mins. Is this unreasonable? Best regards Anders On 2012-01-31 19:41, Kai Engert wrote:

Personally, I don't mind if I get 5 minutes less. Should be enough time for my talk that way as well (done some measurements already). :) Дана Tue, 31 Jan 2012 21:35:42 +0100 Anders Rundgren <anders@primekey.se> написа:

The problem with your proposal is, the schedule has been already published, it will be printed like that, and people trying to attend a talk will notice they are too late. Kai

I assume you don't like Sunday. If all you need it 30 minutes, it shouldn't be necessary to change much. If your preference is to fit your talk in on Saturday, there might be other options. I see other developer rooms (e.g. Mozilla) start as early as 11:00. You could talk from 11:00-11:30 If we want to keep a 15 minutes break between talks, then Tomas Gustavsson's talk could be moved 15 minutes to start at 11:45, until 12:30. The time for the lunch break would be shortened to 30 minutes, and all remaining talks could be held as scheduled. Would that work for you? If not, and if your preference is still Saturday, then the other option is that you talk at 17:00. (That DigiNotar "open discussion" was just an idea, and has not been announced anywhere.) Kai
FYI, I've been told, it's definitively still possible to make an *addition* to the schedule, and it will be visible in the *online* schedule on the fosdem web site. It might be *too late* for the *printed* schedule, or we might be lucky that it can still be printed. I'd prefer not to cause too much hassle to the organizers by asking them to change the times of existing talks. That will most likely create confusion. Please let me know soon which of the slots you'd like, and I'll forward to Fosdem organizers, as soon as possible. (a) Saturday, 11:00, which Thomas G potentially moving 15 minutes, everything else unchanged. (b) Saturday, 17:00 Kai

No problem at all for me to move 15 minutes. I'll be all day at FOSDEM :-) Cheers, Tomas On 02/01/2012 06:46 AM, Anders Rundgren wrote:

Great. Anders' talk has been added to the schedule, and Tomas' talk has been moved by 15 minutes. The changes are already visible on the Fosdem site. http://www.fosdem.org/2012/schedule/track/hardware_cryptography_devroom Kai
