[FOSDEM] FOSDEM 2022

Dear all,

as some of you have noticed, we have not put out an official
announcements regarding FOSDEM 2022 until now. To expand a bit on
agk's response[1]:


We do know that the weekend ULB would be able to let us onto their
premises is 2022-02-05 & 2022-02-06. As such, FOSDEM will happen at
that date.

As per usual, we started planning for real in August. We have
consensus that there will be an online component to FOSDEM. We do not
yet have consensus on what, if any, form an in-person component could
look like. These discussions are ongoing, and not easy.


We are painfully aware that this is shifting and compressing not only
our, but everyone's schedule and planning.


I had volunteered to communicate all the above a month ago and failed
to do so. I am sorry for that.
To be completely honest, all this uncertainty and the responsibility
are weighing on all of us, myself included.


What we do know is that barring some new variants, we will have an
awesome FOSDEM 2023 - and we will do our best to make FOSDEM 2022 the
least bad one possible.
