FOSDEM 2026: Official Dates & Call for Main Track Speakers
by Bastian 07 Oct '25

07 Oct '25

Hi Content Team, Thank you all again for supporting us with the content for FOSDEM 2026. We now have the official dates for FOSDEM 2026! It will take place from *Saturday, January 31, to Sunday, February 1st, 2026*. Now that we have the dates, we can start discussing and confirming potential main track speakers. We'd love for you to start proposing people. *How to propose a speaker* If you have someone in mind for the main track, please send us a very brief proposal with the speaker's name and topic. Once we give you a quick "thumbs up", here on the mailing list or in the matrix chat, you can feel free to officially reach out to them and get them on board. Please get them to fill out the following *private form* we have already prepared. Speakers you recommend will have a preferred spot on the short list for the main track, so their chances of being accepted are higher. This is a special benefit for your early recommendations, so please encourage them to fill out the form. https://pretalx.fosdem.org/fosdem-2026/cfp?access_code=Aib8bu We look forward to hearing your ideas. Inching closer to the start date

We lost some momentum here, I’d like to see if we can pick it back up. Remember, we have https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/content-team-theme-ideas still out there, and it looks like it’s got some great starts. We could lock some ideas down on this thread, so we can start moving forward. -JJ

Pros and Cons of the different people we have put on the etherpad
by JJ Asghar 07 Jul '25

Hey all! Let's extend out the Etherpad or start a thread per person on there. (I don’t know which way, so I’m starting this thread to discuss it, I guess…. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) I feel like we have a solid list, but it would be nice to have in writing the true Pros and Cons of the different people we’ve suggested, and in turn allow us to see if there is a “theme” thread we can find naturally instead of forcing one. We need to maintain this momentum, as the Conference Season is starting up again in September. This means people will begin to think about travel and engagements now for the next six months. Thoughts? Ideas? Am I on the right path here?

Hi all, Thanks for participation at the meeting, and an already additional thanks for your input. As we spoke about in the meeting, we'd like you to contribute and collaborate on some theme ideas and potential speakers to the following etherpad: https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/content-team-theme-ideas We are happy about each and every input, we're looking for things and people we might not have thought of otherwise. Please also join the Matrix Chanel "2026 Content Team" you should have been invited to. If you have some issues here, get in touch with Shin, and he will help you (Matrix: @shin.ice:fosdem.org or @shin.ice:debian-adept.de / email: shin(a)fosdem.org) Our goal is to have defined main track themes by September 2025 - so we can start to actively confirm possible speakers. Also, if there are some clearly good speakers, we should get in touch with them earlier and see what they think about speaking at FOSDEM. FOSDEM 2026 content team: welcome & next steps
by Bastian 13 Jun '25

Hi all, Thanks for your interest to join our "FOSDEM 2026 content-team", and help provide input for our main track. We will add you to this mailing list "content-team(a)lists.fosdem.org". Please also tell us your matrix id that we can invite you to the Matrix chat. Once joined, give a small introduction to yourself in the matrix channel. We want to meet soon! Please fill out this survey to pick a time that works for you: https://framadate.org/zTi2noU3PnFt9778 Don't worry if you can't make the meeting – it's not a deal-breaker for your participation. Our goal for this initial meeting is to get everyone on the same page, so we can then work asynchronously. All descisions will take place in matrix and content-team mailing list later on. Our kick-off for FOSDEM 2026 is taking place in late August, and we'd like to hear your initial thoughts and opinions about potential main track speakers and themes before that time. As soon as we know the date of FOSDEM 2026 we can confirm speakers, so it would be good to get some options discussed and contacted beforehand. Cheers, The FOSDEM Program Team PS: Apologies that it took us longer than stated in the first mail. -- Sebastian Grömcke FOSDEM Staff Member https://fosdem.org
