Hi, I've started uploading the first videos recorded at FOSDEM for the main tracks, lightning talks, and cross-distribution devroom. Please note that not all videos are available yet, and that they need to be synced to our mirror network first before you'll be able to watch them. You should be able to see the videos by going to <http://video.fosdem.org/>, or by clicking on the right link when going to the schedule on the website (after the next update). What's the status on the video uploads? It seems many (most?) of the main track talks are up, but the FreedomBox one is not yet (it was the closing keynote in janson). Just checking it's still on its way :) Many thanks for your (and everyone's) work on these videos, they're a great resource. Regards, Matthew

We're probably about 90% through uploading videos. Of course, the last bits to do are the more complex ones to handle, but I'm hoping to be ready by the end of the week. Unfortunately, we lost some talks. Some due to the fact that we were not yet completely set up by the time talks started in the room, other because for a reason that is not entirely clear to me yet, recording stopped in some rooms on Sunday before all talks had been recorded. It was not a disk space issue, since all recording laptops still had disk available. It may have been operator error or misconfiguration on our part. As a result, we won't be able to upload all talks, although the damage luckily isn't too massive.

I'm afraid Janson was one of the rooms where recording stopped unexpectedly. This happened sometime during the Apache Cassandra talk, so the FreedomBox talk was not recorded. My sincerest apologies for the inconvenience. If it's any solace, I really wanted to see the FreedomBox talk myself, but was so busy wrapping up in the other rooms during that time that I couldn't; so I thought "oh well, I'll just watch the video afterwards"... -- The volume of a pizza of thickness a and radius z can be described by the following formula: pi zz a

Oops! Thanks for the information. Regards, Matthew
Many thanks guys, is there a way maybe to download them via torrent? On Mon, Feb 27, 2012 at 1:38 PM, Matthew Wild <mwild1@gmail.com> wrote:

Thanks, the problem isn't really with the mirrors, it's with internet connection here in the middle east :) On Mon, Feb 27, 2012 at 6:18 PM, Jan-Frederik Martens <jfmartens@fosdem.org>wrote:

Not provided by FOSDEM: The videos are stored on fast mirrors, bandwidth shouldn't be an issue.
Cheers,
Jan-Frederik

The only place where the Internet is worse than in India ;) If anyone creates the torrents, I can help seed from a gbit link. Richard
Hi, Some update to those of you who're waiting anxiously on the final talks to be uploaded: On Mon, Feb 27, 2012 at 08:07:51AM +0100, Wouter Verhelst wrote:

This has been postponed a bit. I had been planning to do all that today, but had apparently forgotten that in order to be able to work on these files, I will obviously need them available locally. Copying several hours worth of raw DV files over the Internet takes... a while. Oops. I've finished editing some talks now, however, and will upload them to video.fosdem.org once they've been transcoded; that will happen either later tonight, or tomorrow evening. Unfortunately I do not have time to work on this tomorrow, so the rest will have to wait for monday afternoon.
