Hi folks, as you might have noticed our schedule is online: https://fosdem.org/2013/schedule/track/microkernels_and_component_based_os/ We'll start 11:00 pm in room AW 1.120. It is granted only that the video projector has a VGA connector. If you need something different (HDMI, DVI, ...) please pick up necessary equipment/adapters. With regard to the potential demo session on Sunday: I've asked the FOSDEM responsibles for help. There will be two BoF rooms for informal project meetings, which can be booked on site for up to one hour. I'll try to allocate one on Saturday morning, just before our session starts. Because it seems as if the demo session will take place, please pick up your presentation machine if you like to participate in it. I'm looking forward to see you in Brussels. [Microkernel-devroom] Panel discussion
by Stefan Kalkowski 03 Jan '13

03 Jan '13

Hi folks, there is one outstanding point regarding the concluding panel discussion on Saturday. I would like to add the representatives of the OS projects to the conference CMS, who will sit on the podium. It would be nice to have a decision until 9th January so that this information can be included in the FOSDEM booklet. Norman will attend this session to represent Genode. Thank you in advance! [Microkernel-devroom] FOSDEM 2013 - Final Schedule
by Stefan Kalkowski 02 Jan '13

02 Jan '13

Dear devroom participants, sorry for the delay regarding the final schedule announcement. It was really hard to find a solution with respect to the numerous, interesting submissions. I'd like to thank all people for their proposals. After trying hard to arrange a balanced schedule, here is the outcome: 11:00-11:15 Welcome 11:20-12:00 The GNU/Hurd architecture, nifty features, and latest news 12:05-12:35 Every cloud has a silver lining and what we can learn from it 12:40-13:10 Rathaxes - A DSL for device driver development --- break --- 14:00-14:40 OS Hot Topics 14:45-15:25 Reaching puberty - How Genode is becoming a general-purpose OS 15:30-16:00 Microkernels and You - long path of the small project 16:05-16:40 HelenOS: last year at a glance 16:45-17:25 The NOVA Microhypervisor Interface 17:30-18:10 Romain: OS Support for Replicating Binary Applications 18:15-19:00 Panel discussion Regarding the discussion that took place, whether we should have a demo slot, panel discussion, or some kind of collective taxonomy development: Due to the short time that is left beside the talks, I've chosen Martin's proposal of having a moderated, short panel discussion with all project's on location. Nevertheless, to enable a demo session, and have more time for open discussion, I'll ask the FOSDEM team for some small room on Sunday not necessarily mentioned in the official booklet. Although, chances are low due to limited room capacities. Looking forward to see you in Brussels & happy new year! -- Stefan Kalkowski Genode Labs http://www.genode-labs.com/ · http://genode.org/
