Go Devroom CfP — FOSDEM 2025
by Maartje Eyskens 06 Nov '24

06 Nov '24

Hi gophers, The Go community has been represented at FOSDEM every year since 2014. The year 2025 won't be any different. FOSDEM is an annual conference about free and open source software held in Brussels, attended by over 5000 developers and open-source enthusiasts from all over the world. This year again the Go devroom will be in-person in Brussels on Saturday February 1st 2025 and we are now looking for speakers. The format will be 25 minutes talk with 5 minutes for Q&A at the end. This is a great opportunity for new speakers, and we will have people helping you craft your talk and slides if so you wish. So if you, or someone you know, are working on something cool that might be good on stage, submit a proposal! Do you want to be one of our speakers? Please submit your proposal using [the new FOSDEM Pretalx site](https://pretalx.fosdem.org/fosdem-2025/cfp). The deadline for submission is December 1st 2024 (00:00 Brussels Time). If you want us to check whether your proposal came through correctly, you can always contact us at [go-devroom-manager(a)fosdem.org](mailto: go-devroom-manager(a)fosdem.org) Do you want to help organize the devroom? We need people to help on the day itself (doors, microphone handover, camera, allaround). But we are also especially looking for many people to help with reviewing the proposals and help with mentoring. Please send us an email to [go-devroom-manager(a)fosdem.org](mailto: go-devroom-manager(a)fosdem.org) if you’d like to help out with this. Any topics related to Go are welcome, with a preference for open source projects rather than product pitches. We value talks about how a given project uses Go rather than how a project written in Go is used. The room will follow Go’s [Code of Conduct](https://golang.org/conduct) and as part of FOSDEM, the FOSDEM Code of Conduct also applies. Cheers, Maartje Eyskens

[CfP] Inclusive Web Call for Proposals
by Saptak Sengupta 06 Nov '24

06 Nov '24

CFP information: https://github.com/Inclusive-Web-Devroom/fosdem-2025/blob/main/CFP.md We are happy to inform, for the first time in FOSDEM 2025, there will be a devroom on Inclusive Web. Websites have always been an important piece of technology to convey information and is often a platform used by FOSS projects. Websites and the extended web technologies such as browsers, extensions, etc. are used regularly by everyone, and a huge part of those technologies are open source. So it is important that we make the FOSS web community inclusive. Anyone who is working on Open Source assistive technologies, or building tools to enhance privacy, or improve localization or any other open source public interest technology that makes the web more inclusive and helps focus on digital rights are welcome to submit a talk for this devroom.

The tools and technologies targeted are typically creating, handling or sharing knowledge artifacts: data, academic papers, books, collections, web contents, algorithms, artworks. This devroom provides a place and time to discuss the issues related to the creation and usage of open research technologies, with the ambition to foster discussions between designers, developers and users, bridging multiple knowledge-based communities together, and with the broader FLOSS community. # The Open Research devroom aims to: - Allow knowledge-based tool developers to publicize their effort and become aware of other FLOSS projects. - Facilitate the pooling of coding efforts on (often poorly funded) tools. - Create a network where otherwise isolated developers, research engineers can share common FLOSS concerns. - Provide social recognition for people who work in fields where designing and developing tools is less considered than usual outcomes (e.g. not publishing papers in research, not writing investigation in data journalism, etc). # Committee Your proposal will be assessed by our committee: - Anne Lee Steele - Célya Gruson-Daniel Inno3 and COSTECH Lab (Université de Technologie de Compiègne) - Diego Antolinos Basso, research engineer at the médialab and the CEVIPOF, Sciences Po Paris - Luisa Orozco, Research Software Engineer at the Netherlands eScience center. - Mathieu Jacomy, assistant professor at the Tantlab in Copenhagen and designer of Gephi. - Paul Girard, Human Data Interfaces engineer at OuestWare - Sara Petti, Network Lead at Open Knowledge Foundation - Victor Daussy-Renaudin - Violeta Menéndez González, Senior Research Software Engineer at CoSTAR National Lab. - Yo Yehudi Contact us: open-research-devroom-manager at fosdem.org Follow our website for updated information: https://research-fosdem.github.io/
