hello sven, > but why does the key signing party have > to be parallel to any of the talks at all? > how about making the key signing party > a part of the saturday evening event?! > "saturday evening at 21h - the key signing party! > followed by some free beer (as in "free beer")" ;-) ... nice idea ... but there you will have a small(?) problem ... there are guests, who visit fosdem on saturday and sunday, but have no accomodation near brussel ... (like me) ... therefore we wasn't able to stay longer at fosdem than about 19:00/20:00 ... if the keysigning-party will be at 21:00 with about 200 persons, it'll take about 2 hours (i think) ... and this is much too late ... ;-( the problem i had was the keysigning-party taking place at the same time the cacert-assurances took place ... at different locations ... therefore i had to decide: doing cacert or pgp ... i decided to do cacert ... ;-) but ... maybe it's possible to use a room at about 18:00, when the last talk is finished ... even if you take some minutes from e.g. the bsd/postgres-room to join ... (the beginning for the cacert/pgp-procedure is everytime the same ... and it should be possible to leave presentation running on some slides during the keysigning ... so everybody coming later (5 or 10 minutes due to the long way) has the possibility to read the informations he missed) ... if it's well prepared (maybe the keylist sorted by uid ... or everybody on the list should know his number), it should not be a big problem (well ... some finetuning needed) to do both: pgp and cacert ... since there is the same problem at other events (froscon, mrmcd, ...) i'll check it there how to optimize it ... and how they are doing the keysigning/assurances ... have a nice day ... -- Psssst! That's a pity because after so much time (and cold) spent at signing party, now I'm stick with this stupid issue. Key Server Issues?
by David "Lefty" Schlesinger 13 Feb '09

13 Feb '09

I¹m busily signing keys, but when I¹ve attempted to either upload to or download from hkp://ksp.mdcc.cx, I get the error gpgkeys: HTTP post error 7: couldn't connect to host I was able to pull most people¹s keys from wwwkeys.at.pgp.net, and I¹ve been uploading signed ones to there for the moment. There are, however, a fair number of keys which I¹ve been unable to find on that server or other accessible ones. Can anyone see whether ksp.mdcc.cx needs to be kicked or something...? Thanks to all who braved the cold to turn out this afternoon!

Hi, Does someone still have a copy of this page: http://wiki.fosdem.org/tiki-index.php?page=Fosdem2005Pictures http://wiki.fosdem.org/tiki-index.php?page=LightningTalks I was organising the "really lightning" talks in 2004 and 2005, and the website seems to be down. BTW, I still have a copy of the slides for those years here, feel free to mirror: http://people.ffii.org/~zoobab/bh.udev.org/filez/lightning/ -- Benjamin Henrion <bhenrion at ffii.org> FFII Brussels - +32-484-566109 - +32-2-4148403

Hi, Do you plan to collect the slides of each talk that was given at FOSDEM? I am looking for some slides that were presented in the LT room. Best, -- Benjamin Henrion <bhenrion at ffii.org> FFII Brussels - +32-484-566109 - +32-2-4148403

It helped me a lot. What about reply to ML too? I noticed that you are setting $CONFIG{'keyid'} so probably you don't need to declare -u parameter in the command line caff -em -u xxxxxxxx "`cat mylist-of-keys.txt`" However all seems working fine, I'm testing with the key of a friend of mine (so I can flood his email) I liked the idea to use $CONFIG{'bcc'} to get a copy as dending confirmation. The problem now is that mails are not sent. I am working on a desktop that doesn't have a SMTP configured because I usually use Thunderbird as email client. What should I have to do to allow caff sending emails? TIA Cordiali Saluti / Kindest Regards / mit freundlichen Grüssen -- Marco Cavallini

Help signing GPG keys for the first time
by Marco Cavallini [KOAN] 12 Feb '09

Hello, I'm a keysigning paty newbie and I was'nt able to find a really useful document about this last phase in the net or in the FOSDEM website. I read "When you're back home" chapter in http://ksp.mdcc.cx/ but is not enough clear to me. I extracted list of keyIDs from ksp-fosdem2009.txt, then left only ones to be signed. For example if my own key was: 196 [ ] Fingerprint OK [ ] ID OK pub 1024D/3819854E 2007-02-17 [expires: 2012-02-17] Key fingerprint = BD5C 7C6B 7366 62F4 6B2F 6293 81E7 D586 3819 854E uid Marco Cavallini (KOAN Software) <m.cavallini [AT] koansoftware.com> -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I keeped only Key fingerprint lines like this: BD5C 7C6B 7366 62F4 6B2F 6293 81E7 D586 3819 854E I did this for each verified ID. QUESTION 1: is this correct? Then I tested with caff --no-sign --no-export-old --mail no "`cat ksp-test.txt`" It seems working, but before flooding keysigning party with dirty mail, I would get a hint from someone more experienced with this topic. QUESTION 2: In order to send signed keys do I have to set $CONFIG{’mailer-send’} option in .caffrc ? Anybody could share a working .caffrc example ? QUESTION 3: at this point what command do I have to do? Maybe this? caff --no-export-old --mail yes "`cat ksp-test.txt`" Any hint would be greatly appreciated. -- Marco Cavallini
