Keysigning: please submit your keys
by Philip Paeps 01 Feb '10

01 Feb '10

As threatened, I'll be herding the keysigning bits this year. I spent some quality time this afternoon setting up the necessary technical infastructure. If you intend to participate in the keysigning event, please submit the keys you'd like to have signed to the evil perl hack^W^W^Wkeyserver listening on ksp.fosdem.org. If you're using GnuPG, that can be easily accomplished with: % gpg --keyserver ksp.fosdem.org --send-key <your-keyid> Since error handling in the keyserver bits of gpg is "amusing", you may want to check if your key actually made it to the server by pointing a webbrowser at: http://ksp.fosdem.org/. As soon as I find someone who understands the complicated content damagement system running on http://fosdem.org/, I'll get them to put this announcement there too. Happy submitting. - Philip -- Philip Paeps Please don't Cc me, I am philip(a)fosdem.org subscribed to the list. If reproducibility may be a problem conduct the test only once.

Re: Questions about LPI-C 1
by Christophe Vandeplas 31 Jan '10

Hi Francois, The prices are per exam session. Fyi, it's almost 50% off the normal price. I am not sure if you can pass both exams the same day. Some LPI people are subscribed on the Visitors list, maybe they can answer this question. You can also always contact LPI (link from their website: http://www.lpice.eu/Kontakt.32.0.html?L=0 ) On Thu, Jan 28, 2010 at 12:45 AM, François Moreau <francois.c.b.moreau(a)gmail.com> wrote: > Hello, > > I'm actually interested by the LPI certification offer at the FOSDEM, but > I'm afraid to misundertand the terms of payment... > > Is it 75 euros for both 101 & 102 modules or is it 75 euros per module ? > > Can I pass both 101 & 102 modules during one session ? > > > Thank You for your answers and your great organization all those years. > > > > -- > François Moreau > +32 472 33 42 65 > francois.c.b.moreau(a)gmail.com > >

New: BoF room for informal meetings
by Mattias 'Tias' Guns 30 Jan '10

30 Jan '10

At FOSDEM, we've been trying to accommodate open-source projects of all sizes and maturity to the best of our possibilities. As our devroom capacity is both limited and very well-used, we've introduced new ways for projects to participate: the many stands, the lightning talks and the crossdistro room. This year, we're adding yet another opportunity: a Birds of a Feather room. The concept is simple: any project can reserve a timeslot (15, 30 or max. 45 minutes), during which they have the room just for them. The idea is to hold ad-hoc discussions, meet-ups or brainstorms. It is not meant for talks, so there will deliberately not be a projector. The BoF room is available on Saturday from 12:00 till 19:00, and is located in the AW building, room 117. It is a cosy and small room with 31 seats. We will hang an empty schedule on the door on Saturday morning. Reservation is done by writing your details in the timeslot(s) you want to occupy. Maximum 3*15 minutes per project. One more reason to get up early on Saturday : )

Six days to submit your key!
by Philip Paeps 26 Jan '10

26 Jan '10

While 128 is a nice round number, I think we can do better. Please remember to submit your key if you intend to take part in the keysigning party. No keys will be accepted after the 1 February deadline. No one likes fiddling with keyslips. Do it now. :-) % gpg --keyserver ksp.fosdem.org --send-key [keyid] - Philip -- Philip Paeps Please don't Cc me, I am philip(a)fosdem.org subscribed to the list.

Re: [FOSDEM] video tracks/ main tracks

I've got 10 videos, about 40 to 60 minutes each. That results in file sizes ranging from 670MB to 1,39GB (all videos together amount to 9,04GB and are in H.264 format in a .mov container). And this is where my problems start: I wanted to upload them onto some online video portal. Youtube is no option since it limits the length of uploaded video to 10 minutes for average users (there are longer videos on youtube - I just don't know what to do to upload longer videos). Another option would have been vimeo. Now here a file size limit kicks in, you get only 500MB per week as a free user - this is less than the size of a single video I've got. So now my question: Would it be possible to publish my videos on http://video.fosdem.org or send them to you so you can upload them to youtube (I guess your account hasn't the 10 minutes limitation)? Otherwise I'd have to bite the bullet and buy a vimeo plus account for $60 a year. Thanks, Lars

Advertising for SFK10 and FREESB at fosdem
by jamesmikedupont＠googlemail.com 25 Jan '10

25 Jan '10

Hi all, I would like to request once again for advertising for the SFK10 conference this year in Prishtina Kosovo on the 25 of September http://kosovasoftwarefreedom.org/ and the conference we are planning in Albania : http://albfrisbee.lintuts.com/ Will it be possible to have some flyers distributed, hung up etc at fosdem? We are looking once again for speakers and visitors. Last year, we had 500 guests, and 26 speeches from 16 different countries. We would like to expand this year with more people from the free software community. thanks, mike
