OT:Super Bowl XLIV
by Matthias Andersson 23 Jan '10

23 Jan '10

Hello! I'll be visiting the conference and I'm flying back to Finland on monday morning which means I'll have to find a place somewhere in the center of Brussels showing the Super Bowl live on sunday night. I was wondering if some local arranger/volunteer check this up for me if you happen to walk by a pub which displays an ad for SB XLIV? I know this is off-topic so please reply to me in person to keep the traffic down. Cheers, Matthias Andersson

News : New to FOSDEM ?
by info＠fosdem.org 23 Jan '10

23 Jan '10

The way FOSDEM works is a little different from other conferences: * Entrance is *free*, but donations [1] are welcome * There is *no registration*, just come to the campus [2] and enjoy the conference * It's a *technical* conference, don't expect marketing/sponsored-talks * It's not a bad idea to *make a list of must-see lectures* beforehand. Check out the Main Tracks [3], Developer Rooms [4], Lightning Talks [5] and Stands [6] * If you arrive on friday, check out our Beer Event [7] * When you arrive on the campus check out our infodesk. You'll get a free bag with some goodies and our information/schedule brochure with maps and other info There are a lot more things to see during the conference like keysigning, LPI exams, food, drinks, free transportation,... check out the links in the left menu. For more information, or to fill in the form check out: http://fosdem.org/2010/new-to-fosdem [1] http://fosdem.org/support/donate [2] http://fosdem.org/practical/transportation [3] http://fosdem.org/schedule/main-tracks [4] http://fosdem.org/schedule/devrooms [5] http://fosdem.org/schedule/tracks/lightningtalks [6] http://fosdem.org/stands [7] http://fosdem.org/beerevent

At Fosdem
by Louis Suarez-Potts 21 Jan '10

21 Jan '10

Good news (for me, at any rate) is that I shall be able to participate in this year's fosdem. I plan on helping the OOo and ODF efforts there, and will also be happy to help with developer outreach, information ion OOo and ODF, and if wanted, present on OOo and ODF. I am the OOo representative on two Oasis TCs, the Adoption and OIC, the latter which aims to normalize handling of documents by ODF implementations. Could you please avoid replies using some sort of base64 encoded html? I am receiving the list in digest format and all I see from such mails are unreadable (at least for humans like me) base64 blocks like this: Am 04.01.2010 um 21:52 schrieb fosdem-request(a)lists.fosdem.org: > ------------------------------ > > Message: 2 > Date: Mon, 4 Jan 2010 17:34:20 +0100 > From: Philip Paeps <philip(a)fosdem.org> > Subject: Re: [FOSDEM] Is it too late to set up a stand? > To: Andrew Stormont <andyjstormont(a)googlemail.com> > Cc: FOSDEM visitors <fosdem(a)lists.fosdem.org> > Message-ID: <20100104163420.GI8230(a)rincewind.paeps.cx> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8" > > T24gMjAxMC0wMS0wNCAxNzowOToxMiAoKzAxMDApLCBBbmRyZXcgU3Rvcm1vbnQgPGFuZH > lqc3Rv > cm1vbnRAZ29vZ2xlbWFpbC5jb20+IHdyb3RlOgo > +IElzIGl0IHRvbyBsYXRlIHRvIHNldCB1cCBh > IHN0YW5kPwoKWWVzLgoKIC0gUGhpbGlwCgotLSAKUGhpbGlwIFBhZXBzICAgICAgICAgIC > AgICAg > ICAgICAgICAgICAgICAgICAgICAgUGxlYXNlIGRvbid0IENjIG1lLCBJIGFtCnBoaWxpcE > Bmb3Nk > ZW0ub3JnICAgICAgICAgICAgICAgICAgICAgICAgICAgICAgICBzdWJzY3JpYmVkIHRvIH > RoZSBs > aXN0LgoKICBZZXN0ZXJkYXkgaXMgaGlzdG9yeS4KICBUb21vcnJvdyBpcyBhIG15c3Rlcn > kuCiAg > VG9kYXkgaXMgYSBnaWZ0LgogIFRoYXQncyB3aHkgaXQgaXMgY2FsbGVkICdwcmVzZW50Jy > 4KLS0t > LS0tLS0tLS0tLS0gbmV4dCBwYXJ0IC0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tCkEgbm9uLXRleHQgYXR0YW > NobWVu > dCB3YXMgc2NydWJiZWQuLi4KTmFtZTogbm90IGF2YWlsYWJsZQpUeXBlOiBhcHBsaWNhdG > lvbi9w > Z3Atc2lnbmF0dXJlClNpemU6IDE5NiBieXRlcwpEZXNjOiBub3QgYXZhaWxhYmxlClVybC > A6IGh0 > dHA6Ly9saXN0cy5mb3NkZW0ub3JnL3BpcGVybWFpbC9mb3NkZW0vYXR0YWNobWVudHMvMj > AxMDAx > MDQvMjRmMjhiYTUvYXR0YWNobWVudC0wMDAxLnBncAo= > > ------------------------------ thanks, Lars

room hotel bargain
by Rolf Leggewie 20 Jan '10

20 Jan '10

Hi, I have a non-cancellable 75€ hotel reservation for the FOSDEM Saturday night at the four-star NH Atlanta Hotel on my hands that I won't be using. http://www.nh-hotels.com/nh/en/hotels/belgium/brussels/nh-atlanta-brussels.… It's a room for double occupancy (two separate twin-sized or one queen-sized bed at your choice). If you're still looking for accomodation and don't mind a bit more comfort than a hostel ;-) this may be for you. I'm looking to cut my losses and would let this one go for 50€. Please reply privately so as not to clutter the list. Thank you. See you in Brussels Rolf
