Laptop video connection testing
by Pander 19 Feb '19

Dear organization, Thank you very much for yet again organizing a great FOSDEM. Unfortunately, my Ubuntu laptop refused to share its screen with the video capturing box. So I had to switch to the laptop that was available in the room using only a PDF browser and lacking the presentation software that show the speaker's notes and the next slide. My laptop normally does connect properly to external screens. Perhaps as an improvement for next year, could the main desk in K have an extra video capturing box where speakers can test their laptop's settings before giving a presentation. Having a place to test and troubleshoot will reduce the stress before a presentation and save time in setting up in the room where a presentation is given. I think, this will greatly improve switching speakers in the rooms. Best regards, Pander

Hello! First of all a big thank you to all speakers, devroom organizers and all other volunteers that make this event possible. Also a big thank you for all our visitors. Without all of you FOSDEM would not be. As staff member and building responsible for the UA, UB and UC, I especially would like to thank devroom managers from the U building which did an exemplary job with their devrooms this year, saving us several hours of cleaning time. It is very much appreciated! Up to an even better FOSDEM next year! Philippe

Hi all, Thanks as well from the inaugural implementation of the Free Tools and Editors devroom. We really had a good time, were impressed by our mostly full and always engaged room — i.e., great questions and discussions and the start of cross-pollination between occasionally competing tools and editors of various kinds. Special thanks to Mario Torre from the Free Java devroom for effectively being a mentor through the process. We really hope we’ll be welcome to do this devroom again next year — it was even more successful and impactful than we had hoped. The Perl-team thanks the FOSDEM-organisation for all they did. Thank you for the booth, electricity, cleanliness, location of our booth, support. We got a lot of visitors to our booth, also from your staff and volunteers. We had a good FOSDEM. Next year, we hope we get a devroom again, we (and many of our visitors) sadly missed that this year.
