Dear All, We love the mobile schedule apps! You can find a list of apps we know about here: https://fosdem.org/2013/schedule/mobile/ Do you know about more apps? More platforms? Tell us about it! To thank the mobile app developers, and to stimulate the continued development of the apps, we are offering a free FOSDEM t-shirt to the mobile app developers! Here is the deal: - The app must work with the 2013 schedule (preferably pre-loaded) - Must be open-source, with browseable sources - Simple forks don't count, ports to other platforms do if build scripts are available - Only applicable to the developers that will be at FOSDEM in person To get the t-shirt(s), the lead developer of the mobile app should contact us on info(a)fosdem.org with the list of developers that will be at FOSDEM and that have made a significant contribution to the project. (We reserve the right to modify the conditions of the offer to avoid abuse or clear out ambiguities.) In name of FOSDEM, Tias This announcement on our website: https://fosdem.org/2013/news/2013-01-20-mobile-schedule-apps/-

All: Hi... my name is Samantha and I am trying to finalize all of my companies plans for FOSDEM and we are all first time attendees. We have been selected to have a stand and the event and wanted to get some feedback on what we should do with giveaways and staff for the stand. We have a limited number of people in EMEA that can attend and I want to make sure that i am using my resources as best as I can. If anyone has any information they can help me with on this ... i would be forever thankful! -- Samantha Kosko Field Marketing Manager @ 10gen, The MongoDB Company Twitter: @sam_10gen Zerply: http://zerply.com/samantha-kosko/public We are hiring!

Lost: prescription sunglasses
by Austin Hair 16 Feb '13

16 Feb '13

Hi all, I know this is a long shot, but I lost a pair of prescription sunglasses while at the conference. They're brown, in a black case, and of no use to anyone who doesn't have a correction of -1.75 in both eyes. I'll obviously pay to have them returned. Thanks, Austin

FOSDEM 2013 feedback
by Thomas Clavier 15 Feb '13

Hello, 7 years i come to Fosdem, thanks a lot :-D IMHO it's the most important event about free software. The event we can't skip. Each years they are more and more people ... and room with popular subject are quickly full :-( In my opinion, if we have ability to vote for subject before event it's possible to move it in big room ? For next year is it possible to publish schedule without room name with ability to vote for talk or devroom ? An other idea it's to add webcam in front of each room to see queue size :-D In other hand, it's very difficult to have fresh beer ... with help of weather is not possible to store beer reserves outside ? Lot of thanks to staff members and volunteers. -- Thomas Clavier http://www.tcweb.org Jabber/XMPP/Gtalk : tom(a)tcweb.org +33 (0)6 20 81 81 30 +33 (0)950 783 783

Our little feedback about FOSDEM 2013
by Joseba Martos 12 Feb '13

12 Feb '13

Hello, This year I was for first time at FOSDEM with my colleagues of Gaueko Koop, a company that works and develops free technologies, especially free telecommunications, as installers of the guifi.net network. We liked a lot the meeting, it helped us discovering several interesting free projects, including some solutions we were looking for, e.g. Jitsi. I was not able to attend to all the talks of my interest because the huge amount of parallel talks, but I will see the videos on the web. It's great to have a video repository! In the other hand, I read in twitter that the Pythonists had some space problems on their devrooms. It seems that Python is becoming more and more popular again, maybe, because it's chosen as main language for some Google technologies and for OpenStack project. I was not in the Python devroom, but it's my favorite programming language for system administration. We enjoyed the meeting and next year we will be again at FOSDEM, probably, bringing a talk about guifi.net network, this year we didn't have enough time. We have published our feedback about FOSDEM at our website, it's written in spanish: http://gaueko.com/es/blog/gaueko-en-la-fosdem-2013 Lot of thanks to staff members and volunteers. See you next year! -- Joseba Martos Sánchez Proiektu zuzendaritza / Dirección de proyectos joseba(a)gaueko.com .:. @josebamartos Gaueko .:. Teknologia askeak http://gaueko.com/ @gauekocom

FOSDEM 2013 feedback
by Hamza Abdelkebir 09 Feb '13

Hello, I would like to thank the guys who worked to organize such a great freesoftware event! It was my second time this year and it was awesome. Had the chance to meet and chat with one of my gurus like Eben Moglen. I also discovered some great freesoftware projects like LibreOffice (yes there are some people who don't know everything about freesoftware). My main remarks about the Fosdem'13 experience 1. the beer event was overcrowded but was fun 2. I did not know what to do on Saturday and Sunday night. I went to Bytenight but could not stay much because of train hours. 3. I could not find the Keysigning event? when was it? Thank very very much about the great experience that Fosdem is. See you next year! Hamza

feedback: beer event
by Pavel Simerda 07 Feb '13

For me (and probably for many others) such a big beer event with so many people and so little space is beyond something I could attend. Not sure whether anything can be done about that. Thanks for moving the main building to K, that was a great idea. Maybe it would be nice if the paper program was closer to the real one. Pavel

1 the beer event on friday was for me (an 75 years old expert in software and beer) not accessible... A crowd before the three entries of Delirium, all equipped with beer and I'm standing dry and could not enter the premises... 2 the Saturday was nice and I met who I want to see and found what I want to know 3 at Sunday I went back home, because I feel that it was to cold to walk again around the campus of ULB 4 on Saturday I had a nice lunch (baguette cheese and Liption Tea) in the small canteen 5 next year I'll skip Friday-evening beer, that's nice for my young successors; come on Saturday morning and leave Sunday evening; I'll be equipped as back-packer with very warm clothing! I'll use the same Capital Hotel that is very nice with free WiFi and good breakfast en beds! Best regards, Dick Stomp
