All: Hi... my name is Samantha and I am trying to finalize all of my companies plans for FOSDEM and we are all first time attendees. We have been selected to have a stand and the event and wanted to get some feedback on what we should do with giveaways and staff for the stand. We have a limited number of people in EMEA that can attend and I want to make sure that i am using my resources as best as I can. If anyone has any information they can help me with on this ... i would be forever thankful! -- Samantha Kosko Field Marketing Manager @ 10gen, The MongoDB Company Twitter: @sam_10gen Zerply: http://zerply.com/samantha-kosko/public We are hiring!

Workshop room like last year?
by Benjamin Henrion 25 Jan '13

25 Jan '13

Hi, Last year there was a free room that projects could book for an hour for a small meetup. Is there still such room available this year? I would like to meet with other people of the arm-netbook mailing-list and give them an hour and a meeting point. Best, -- Benjamin Henrion <bhenrion at ffii.org> FFII Brussels - +32-484-566109 - +32-2-3500762 "In July 2005, after several failed attempts to legalise software patents in Europe, the patent establishment changed its strategy. Instead of explicitly seeking to sanction the patentability of software, they are now seeking to create a central European patent court, which would establish and enforce patentability rules in their favor, without any possibility of correction by competing courts or democratically elected legislators."

Keysigning: please submit your keys
by Philip Paeps 27 Dec '12

27 Dec '12

It's that time of the year again. I have updated the keysigning bits and pieces to accept keys for next year's keysigning event. Same procedure as last year: if you intend to participate in the keysigning event, please submit the keys you'd like to have signed to ksp.fosdem.org. If you're using GnuPG, that can be easily accomplished with: % gpg --keyserver ksp.fosdem.org --send-key <your-keyid> Please check that your key was correctly submitted by pointing a webbrowser at https://ksp.fosdem.org/. If your key is missing after you submitted it, send me an email and I'll try to find out what's up. Key submissions close Thursday before FOSDEM to give me some time to try to remember how I generated the lists again. Get submitting! - Philip -- Philip Paeps Senior Reality Engineer Ministry of Information

FOSDEM 13 - Cloud Dev Proposal: Image management in a federated cloud environment
by Martyn Taylor 17 Dec '12

17 Dec '12

Hello all, I'd like to propose a talk on the Aeolus Image Factory project in the Cloud Developer Room at this years FOSDEM. *Talk Name:* Image management in a federated cloud environment *Speaker Name:* Martyn Taylor *Talk Description:* In a world where Cloud IaaS providers are popping up on every street corner, it becomes increasingly important to prevent vendor lockin. Several efforts are already underway in projects like DeltaCloud to help abstract away the differences in API's and allow consumers to be cloud agnostic. However, the desire for cloud agnosticism becomes increasingly challenging when we start thinking about managing images. Not only do we have API differences, but also many cloud vendors require differing formats and importation methods, some requiring uploading of pre-built images, others snapshots of running instances. This talk addresses some of the issues surrounding image management in a federated cloud environment and introduces Aeolus Image Factory; a project that offers image management abstraction for multitude of Cloud vendors. Aeolus Image Factory allows users to define images at a high level and have them built, pushed and registered with all the major cloud vendors. *Speaker bio:* Martyn Taylor is a software engineer at Red Hat Ltd. He is currently member of Aeolus technical committee and is responsible for integration and API efforts around Aeolus Image Management. websites: http://www.aeolusproject.org/ http://imgfac.org/
