Mobile schedule apps
by Tias Guns 22 Nov '13

22 Nov '13

Dear All, We love the mobile schedule apps! You can find a list of apps we know about here: https://fosdem.org/2013/schedule/mobile/ Do you know about more apps? More platforms? Tell us about it! To thank the mobile app developers, and to stimulate the continued development of the apps, we are offering a free FOSDEM t-shirt to the mobile app developers! Here is the deal: - The app must work with the 2013 schedule (preferably pre-loaded) - Must be open-source, with browseable sources - Simple forks don't count, ports to other platforms do if build scripts are available - Only applicable to the developers that will be at FOSDEM in person To get the t-shirt(s), the lead developer of the mobile app should contact us on info(a)fosdem.org with the list of developers that will be at FOSDEM and that have made a significant contribution to the project. (We reserve the right to modify the conditions of the offer to avoid abuse or clear out ambiguities.) In name of FOSDEM, Tias This announcement on our website: https://fosdem.org/2013/news/2013-01-20-mobile-schedule-apps/-

by Philip Paeps 31 Jan '13

31 Jan '13

The list of participants for this weekend's keysigning event is now available. If you're taking part in the keysigning event, you should now: o Download the list: http://ksp.fosdem.org/files/ksp-fosdem2013.txt o Optionally, if there's a trust path between your PGP key and mine, verify the integrity of the file using the detached signature: http://ksp.fosdem.org/files/ksp-fosdem2013.txt.asc e.g. using: % gpg --verify ksp-fosdem2013.txt.asc ksp-fosdem2013.txt o Verify that your fingerprint as shown on the list is correct. o Calculate the checksums of the file holding the list of keys. e.g. using: % gpg --print-md RIPEMD160 ksp-fosdem2013.txt % gpg --print-md SHA256 ksp-fosdem2013.txt o Print this list of keys with fingerprints on paper. o Write the checksums you calculated in the designated blanks. o Don't lose the list, and bring it with you on Sunday, along with a pen and appropriate means of identification. See you Sunday! - Philip -- Philip Paeps Senior Reality Engineer Ministry of Information

Prepaid SIM card
by Željko Filipin 31 Jan '13

31 Jan '13

Hi, I usually buy a prepaid SIM card when I am traveling abroad. Does anybody have recommendations which one to take? It would be great if I could buy it at the airport, but that is optional. I would mostly use the it for internet access. I would probably send a text message here and there. It would be nice to be able to call somebody local, but I almost never use that. Thanks, Željko

Community Meeting Rooms
by Tias Guns 31 Jan '13

31 Jan '13

Dear All, FOSDEM is nearing and it is promising to become awesome again. Like last year, we will provide two 'community meeting rooms' (formerly called BoF rooms). The concept is simple: any project/community can reserve a timeslot (15 minutes to an hour), during which they have the room just for them. It is meant for ad-hoc discussions, meet-ups or brainstorms. It is not a replacement for a devroom and it certainly is not meant for talks, so there will deliberately not be a projector. The rooms are cosy and small with around 30ish seats. Reservation can only be done on site and *during FOSDEM*. The reservation sheets are at the infodesk in the H building. The rooms are not far from that infodesk. Reservations are on a first-come, first-serve basis. See you soon, Tias

Hi, I'd like to get rid of (2) SunFire V210 UltraSPARC IIIi systems. They're now in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. I'll bring them to the FOSDEM conference. If you'd like to have one (bonus points if you're doing Free Software development on it) contact me for agreeing on a time and place to hand it over. 31 Jan '13

Hi all, This year, the main Infodesk has been moved from the H building to the K building. So, when you arrive, head over to K to pick up your booklet and to get some last minute information. The various building locations are indicated here: https://fosdem.org/2013/practical/transportation/ . We will be there all weekend, so if you'd like to make a donation we recommend you avoid the rush on Saturday morning but rather do so in the afternoon or on Sunday.
