Workshop room like last year?
by Benjamin Henrion 25 Jan '13

25 Jan '13

Hi, Last year there was a free room that projects could book for an hour for a small meetup. Is there still such room available this year? I would like to meet with other people of the arm-netbook mailing-list and give them an hour and a meeting point. Best, -- Benjamin Henrion <bhenrion at ffii.org> FFII Brussels - +32-484-566109 - +32-2-3500762 "In July 2005, after several failed attempts to legalise software patents in Europe, the patent establishment changed its strategy. Instead of explicitly seeking to sanction the patentability of software, they are now seeking to create a central European patent court, which would establish and enforce patentability rules in their favor, without any possibility of correction by competing courts or democratically elected legislators."

Keysigning: venue
by Philip Paeps 20 Jan '13

20 Jan '13

I've been getting many questions about the keysigning venue again. :) Unless it's warm and sunny, we will be where we were last year: in the corridor on the second level of the U building. Time: Sunday at 14:00 as usual. I will put this on the schedule shortly. I will prepare signs to point people in the right direction. Note that there is still time to submit your keys. There are only 90 keys submitted so far. There were a lot more in previous years! - Philip -- Philip Paeps Senior Reality Engineer Ministry of Information

spouse tour
by fosdem spouse tour 11 Jan '13

11 Jan '13

Hi all There are still some spaces left for the traditional spouse tour, and the program has just been finalized You can register by sending a mail to tour(a)fosdem.org Kind regards Wouter Simons Saturday, February 2: by tram to the Sablon Start: 14h, corner Roosevelt / Heger Avenue, ULB campus, reception building H language: English content of the tour: <Per tram to the Sablon>, with time for a coffee break Tour Description: Brussels is a city with many worlds. During a tram ride to the center of the ULB the guide will talk about the passing city. At the pallais de justice the group will exit the tram for a tour of the Upper Town, a place where nobility, power and high bourgeoisie found a home since the Middle Ages. Remnants of this we can still enjoy today during a stroll through the Egmont Park, while we admire the Sablon church or during a visit of the Palace of Egmont. But the Sablon is about more than the past. Today it is a center of commerce and trade of antiques luxury items. end: 18h30, same place Not included: drinks during the coffee break or tram tickets. Sunday, February 3: La Cambre, the Ixelles ponds and Flagey language: English Start: 12:15, corner Roosevelt / Heger Avenue, ULB campus, reception building H content of the tour: <Ter Kameren, the ponds and Flagey>, with time for a coffee break Tour Description: A stone's throw from the ULB campus lies the Place Flagey. This lively square, with the Flagey building in Art Deco on the edge, has had a revival since its redesign. People come from all over the city to watch and be watched from the terrace of Café Belga . The road to it is very nice too, along Cambre Abbey, with the idyllic sources of Maelbeek, along the Ixelles ponds, surrounded by beautiful villas and the streets around the Place Flagey, still marked by the Portuguese migration. End: 3:45 p.m., Flagey Not included: drinks during the coffee break.

Last day to book discounted hotels
by Philip Paeps 10 Jan '13

10 Jan '13

Our discount hotel rates expire today. I'm not sure how successful this experiment was. If you intend to book a hotel and you'd like to take advantage of the discounted rates negotiated for us, now would be a good time to do it. We'll evaluate this experiment after FOSDEM. If a sufficient number of people used the discount forms, we'll do this again next year. - Philip -- Philip Paeps Senior Reality Engineer Ministry of Information
