http://fosdem.org/2007/interviews-missing-firebug Interviews: software patents, security, JBoss and the missing FireBug To ease the pain of missing Joe Hewitt's talk about FireBug, you can read all about it in his interview [http://fosdem.org/2007/interview/joe+hewitt] Other interesting interviews today are those about freedom and software patents by both Georg Greve (FSFE) [http://fosdem.org/2007/interview/georg+greve] and Pieter Hintjens (FFII) [http://fosdem.org/2007/interview/pieter+hintjens] Tom Baeyens about JBoss BPM [http://fosdem.org/2007/interview/tom+baeyens] and H.D. Moore about security and the Metasploit framework [http://fosdem.org/2007/interview/h+d+moore] regards Floris -- in .sig nificant

confusing Schedule page presentation
by Benjamin Henrion 08 Feb '07

08 Feb '07

On the following page: http://fosdem.org/2007/schedule/days all the rooms columns does not fit on the same hour line in the table. It would be more convenient to put it all on the same line, even if it does not fit on a 1024x768 screen and you have to scroll on the left. Like this, it is not easy to make your choice depending on the time. Best, -- Benjamin Henrion <bhenrion at ffii.org> FFII Brussels - +32-484-566109 - +32-2-4148403

Offer: bed for 35€ in 4* Marriott Hotel
by Rolf Leggewie 05 Feb '07

05 Feb '07

Hi, with the help from a friend I managed to get a very favourable rate for the nice and shiny four-star Renaissance Marriott Hotel, conveniently located half-way between FOSDEM and the city centre (think beer event!). I don't mind staying there by myself. But I can change my reservation to a twin room (two separate beds) if somebody is still looking for an affordable, upscale place to stay and does not mind sharing a room with a stranger (I am not geeky enough to have stopped taking showers ;-)). I have only booked the night from Friday to Saturday but an extension is possible. Cost per night of 70€ would be split. Regards & see you at FOSDEM Rolf

Q: FOSDEM visit from Russia
by Konstantin A. Lepikhov 03 Feb '07

03 Feb '07

Greetings! I'm would like to visit FOSDEM but never been in Europe before. So it's good time to do it now :) I'm planning to take a week vacation and do the road trip by Schengen area. According infos from Belgium FPS Foreign Affairs site (http://www.diplomatie.be/en/default.asp) and our russian site (http://www.belgium.ru/visa.php3) there are three variants for visiting Belgium and Schengen: 1) travel visa 2) individual visit by invitation 3) business visit by invitation As I'm understand 3) is not applicable for this case - FOSDEM organisators doesn't have legal form for this. 1) case is good, but have restrictions - I'm must reserve all hotels before travel (it's impossibe for road trip due missing information for reservation) and must by travel in agency (and repay for it). So 2) variant is best, but there is another problems - who is take all response for me? A few words about me and my contribution to FOSS: My name is Konstantin Lepikhov, I'm a technical administrator/developer of Russian Mozilla Team support forum (http://forum.mozilla-russia.org) and site (http://www.mozilla-russia.org) Also I'm a member of ALTLinux Team (http://www.sisyphus.ru/packager/lakostis/) All this projects (Mozilla Russia Team and ALT) make great job for open-source community: - Russian Mozilla Team is responsible for support of Mozilla products for russian users and developers and for Mozilla products promotion in Russia and exUSSR area. Our members are skilled translators, developers and administrators. We work closely with Mozilla.org community. - ALT Linux is international project for public Linux distribution and packages repository (www.sisyphus.ru) Members of ALT Linux Team are occupied in various international projects (http://www.altlinux.org/index.php?module=intproj) PS BTW, Is the anybody from xulfr.org is be on FOSDEM? -- WBR et al.
