some questions
by bob 23 Feb '07

23 Feb '07

Hi, Do you think a non-developer but rather foss enthusiast (and aspiring developer) who knows a little bit about *nix and a little bit about programming should attend fosdem? The talks about software patents, the olpc, gplv3 and such seem interesting, what other not-so-technical talks would you suggest? I ask this because it's a long train-bus ride and I have to weigh my chances of getting lost to what I would gain at fosdem ;) This might sound like a stupid question but does anyone know what bus line goes back from fosdem to brussel centraal (preferably around 16u-17u) ? (http://www.stib.irisnet.be appears to only show time tables for individual bus lines) bob

Attendance page (http://wiki.fosdem.org/Attendants)
by Peter Vandenabeele 22 Feb '07

22 Feb '07

Hi, I would find it interesting to know upfront who will attend and I assume some others are also interested in that information. For those people that want to list publicly their intent to be present at fosdem 2007, I added this table to the fosdem wiki: http://wiki.fosdem.org/Attendants Feel free to fill out (only) that information that you want to have public. I repeat that there is no requirement to register upfront and the event is entirely gratis. This is just a list that may help in networking and collaboration. Parking possible?
by Kiffin Gish 22 Feb '07

22 Feb '07

Hi there. I'm planning to drive down and was wondering if there are sufficient (free) parking accommodations somewhere nearby. If so then what does one recommend hopefully without sky-high parking costs? -- Kiffin Gish Frog Navigation Systems B.V. Thanks for your comments Pascal, Wouter, Johan, Olivier, ... I hope I can make it tomorrow! and @ johan: dat het in het nederlands is, is zeker geen probleem, ik ging er eigenlijk van uit dat het niet via die site ging omdat "de lijn" enkel in vlaanderen rijdt. bob

by Frank Van Damme 21 Feb '07

21 Feb '07

Hello, Question, is there a printable version of the schedule on the web site? I am getting psychic disfunctions trying to print a nicely formatted (colorful :) ) schedule. -- Frank Van Damme "All PCs are compatible. But some of them are more compatible than others." [Onbekend]

Q: FOSDEM visit from Russia
by Etienne Saliez 21 Feb '07

21 Feb '07

Welcome to Brussels, but I do not know if it is still possible for the FOSDEM-2007 within 3 days. The administrative steps are the following : - You need a visa, normally for the country of the main part of your travel, in this case Belgium, but you could go through other countries as well. - I would need more information, as maybe a copy of identity documents or passport with explanations in english, dates of entry and exit in Shengen space at which point, airport or border. - I should go to my city administration and make an official invitation, signing a contract that the Belgian State will have no problem with this travel, particularly no expenses. - You have to go with that certified document to a Belgian embassy or consulate in Russia and ask for a visa. I do not know if a fax would be accepted. - No problem with accomodation. We can invite you a few days at our home, located at 20 minutes from the FOSDEM. I am a user of both Firefox and Konqueror in the scope of a KUBUNTU distribution. Etienne Saliez etienne(a)saliez.be tel +32 26541759

Hi, Is there an hacking room during Fosdem, and what are the opening hours of such room? And how many seats?
