I participate for the first time to FOSDEM. I have been very happy to feel the collaboration energy all around. The dance to start is a wonderful idea, let do it again. The "Your first linux kernel patch" of Greg Kroach-Hartman to finish is superb! So, I'm back to work, thinking how to go on collaborating to FOSDEM. Thank you very much for your free work! Need Linksys Antennas !!!! URGENT
by Christophe Vandeplas 05 Feb '10

05 Feb '10

To all Belgian people coming to FOSDEM. If you own a Linksys AP, please unscrew the two antennas and take them with you to FOSDEM. Or if you have other 2.5 GHz antennas you can also take them. Bring those to the Infodesk as soon as you arrive, we will label them and write down your name and email. We will make sure you get them back after FOSDEM. We have some issues as the boxes we got only contain 5 GHz antennas. WITHOUT YOUR HELP only 5GHz network will be available, so we count on you. What would we do otherwise with the 1Gbit internet connection we have? Thanks a lot. Christophe FOSDEM staff PS: Why only Belgians? It's easier to give them back if you live in the same country.

bus 71 deviated
by Johan Van de Wauw 05 Feb '10

05 Feb '10

Hi there, For everyone considering to come to Fosdem by bus, take care that bus 71 is deviated around the Central Station, and you have to walk to another bus stop just around the corner, you need to catch the bus 71 in the direction of 'delta' for fosdem. The new location is indicated on this map: http://www.stib.be/irj/go/km/docs/STIB-MIVB/INTERNET/attachments/Imp%C3%A9r… Johan

Beer event
by Gabor Kuti 05 Feb '10

05 Feb '10

Hello, I should now be buying my tickets to the event but I can't decide if I will participate on the beer event or not.. therefore what dates I should choose. How many people are usually showing up? From the descriptions I've read so far it seems that there are quite a few.. But the more important question is whether smoking is allowed in pubs in Belgium? I am personally a non-smoker and cannot really tolerate smoke, so if it is allowed then I am afraid I have a definitive choice.. I hope this wasn't asked before.. Thanks, Gabor

News : FOSDEM Smartphone applications
by info＠fosdem.org 05 Feb '10

05 Feb '10

In an effort to make FOSDEM even more paperless, there are now Smartphone applications with the FOSDEM schedule. The features of the application depend on the platform, but they have a few features that make it nicer to use than the paper booklet, such as being able to download the latest schedule, read the descriptions of all the talks or view a map for each event. And best of all, it's not paper! The schedule is available for hacking in ical [1] and xcal [2] format. -------- IPHONE -------------------------------------------------------------- The source code, written by Adam Ziolkowski and Leon Handreke, is available on GitHub [3] under the Beerware License.
