Six days to submit your key!
by Philip Paeps 26 Jan '10

26 Jan '10

While 128 is a nice round number, I think we can do better. Please remember to submit your key if you intend to take part in the keysigning party. No keys will be accepted after the 1 February deadline. No one likes fiddling with keyslips. Do it now. :-) % gpg --keyserver ksp.fosdem.org --send-key [keyid] - Philip -- Philip Paeps Please don't Cc me, I am philip(a)fosdem.org subscribed to the list.

I've got 10 videos, about 40 to 60 minutes each. That results in file sizes ranging from 670MB to 1,39GB (all videos together amount to 9,04GB and are in H.264 format in a .mov container). And this is where my problems start: I wanted to upload them onto some online video portal. Youtube is no option since it limits the length of uploaded video to 10 minutes for average users (there are longer videos on youtube - I just don't know what to do to upload longer videos). Another option would have been vimeo. Now here a file size limit kicks in, you get only 500MB per week as a free user - this is less than the size of a single video I've got. So now my question: Would it be possible to publish my videos on http://video.fosdem.org or send them to you so you can upload them to youtube (I guess your account hasn't the 10 minutes limitation)? Otherwise I'd have to bite the bullet and buy a vimeo plus account for $60 a year. Thanks, Lars

Hi all, I would like to request once again for advertising for the SFK10 conference this year in Prishtina Kosovo on the 25 of September http://kosovasoftwarefreedom.org/ and the conference we are planning in Albania : http://albfrisbee.lintuts.com/ Will it be possible to have some flyers distributed, hung up etc at fosdem? We are looking once again for speakers and visitors. Last year, we had 500 guests, and 26 speeches from 16 different countries. We would like to expand this year with more people from the free software community. thanks, mike

OT:Super Bowl XLIV
by Matthias Andersson 23 Jan '10

23 Jan '10

Hello! I'll be visiting the conference and I'm flying back to Finland on monday morning which means I'll have to find a place somewhere in the center of Brussels showing the Super Bowl live on sunday night. I was wondering if some local arranger/volunteer check this up for me if you happen to walk by a pub which displays an ad for SB XLIV? I know this is off-topic so please reply to me in person to keep the traffic down. Cheers, Matthias Andersson

News : New to FOSDEM ?
by info＠fosdem.org 23 Jan '10

23 Jan '10

The way FOSDEM works is a little different from other conferences: * Entrance is *free*, but donations [1] are welcome * There is *no registration*, just come to the campus [2] and enjoy the conference * It's a *technical* conference, don't expect marketing/sponsored-talks * It's not a bad idea to *make a list of must-see lectures* beforehand. Check out the Main Tracks [3], Developer Rooms [4], Lightning Talks [5] and Stands [6] * If you arrive on friday, check out our Beer Event [7] * When you arrive on the campus check out our infodesk. You'll get a free bag with some goodies and our information/schedule brochure with maps and other info There are a lot more things to see during the conference like keysigning, LPI exams, food, drinks, free transportation,... check out the links in the left menu. At Fosdem
by Louis Suarez-Potts 21 Jan '10

21 Jan '10

Good news (for me, at any rate) is that I shall be able to participate in this year's fosdem. I plan on helping the OOo and ODF efforts there, and will also be happy to help with developer outreach, information ion OOo and ODF, and if wanted, present on OOo and ODF. I am the OOo representative on two Oasis TCs, the Adoption and OIC, the latter which aims to normalize handling of documents by ODF implementations.
